Holy Crow

I LUH-HUV Halloween because it is the only time that gaudy and over the top are ever really acceptable.
I mean, when else is it okay to mix the colors purple, orange, green and black? Not to mention decorate with skeleton bones, flying rodents and oversized arachnids?
I'm always on the look out for inexpensive items that add just the right amount of whimsy and "over the topness".
So imagine my delight when I came across these little fellas at the friendly, neighborhood dollar store.

At first, I wasn't sure what I would do with them, but I liked 'em so I grabbed a few.
I wandered through the house with my crows in tow searching for their perfect home. Turns out I had just the place.

What crow wouldn't love to perch atop a bundle of willowy sticks? I love 'em here. It's one of the first things you see when you enter the house. Initially you don't really notice them, then it dawns on you... "holy crow", there are ravens roosting on the sticks in the corner. Subtle, yet not, at the same time. Me likey.

I liked 'em so much, I went back to the store and bought a few more. This time I took them outside. They are the perfect fall adornment for the porch. Especially if you happen to have some old, dried up corn stalks just hanging out.

Don't they look cozy. And really, isn't it every crows dream to wallow in the cornstalks? No scarecrow here...yet.
