I found some beautiful, marbled looking paper online and bought a few sheets.
It was relatively inexpensive...$1.25 for a 12x12 sheet.
The first project I had in mind for it was to recover this old, wooden box I picked up at the thrift store for a couple bucks.
It was a fairly easy, decoupage project that took about a half hour to do. I think it turned out pretty great for only $3 and a few minutes of my time.
I noticed that West Elm has a similar looking agate box on their site for $49-$79.
I had a few pieces of paper still left over, so I used them to cover some boring old books for a chic, updated look.
I really like the texture and pop of color the paper adds to the books. What I love more is that it only cost me a couple of dollars for the update.
If you love marble/agate accents, but can commit to the price, why not consider using some of this beautiful paper?
